Christmas Crafts - Creative Ideas For Handmade Gifts

Christmas is a wonderful time for family and friends to be together in celebration. This is also a great time to exchange gifts with each other. Most people purchase gifts to give at Christmas time, but I think that handmade gifts are better and more appreciated. Before purchasing something from a shopping mall, consider some creative Christmas craft ideas to make something personal for your loved ones this Christmas.

Ornaments are some of the best crafts to make for Christmas. Ornaments make excellent gifts since they have a wide range of uses. Hang them on Christmas trees, use them to decorate an office table, or use them as party favors. A basic ornament can be crafted by simply cutting out an animal shape from some unwanted material such as felt or cardboard and gluing some eyes and a nose on. You have so many options of animals and colors it's bound to be enjoyable. These handmade, creative Christmas crafts are things that you can be proud of.

A perfect Christmas craft idea is Reindeer candy jars. Find an empty jar somewhere. Wash it, making certain that it is clean. Wrap the jar in brown felt or wrapping paper. Next, use glue to affix black buttons for eyes, a big red bead for the nose and curved twigs for antlers. You may wish to color the mouth with a black marker. Once the glue has dried, your kids can fill the reindeer candy jar with Christmas cookies or candies and voila! You have a beautiful and easy Christmas craft.

An Advent calendar can be an awesome Christmas craft to give someone who loves to countdown the days before Christmas. You can easily create an Advent calendar by drawing 25 boxes on a thick piece of cardboard or on a sheet of construction paper. To add a little extra feel of Christmas, try decorating the calender's border with white cotton wool. You can draw, or print pictures of Santa, reindeer, or a snowman from your computer, and cut them out. These cut out shapes should be put in the 25 boxes. You should make one cut out shape for each box. Stick a shape up for every day that passes from the 1st to the 25th and when you're done with all 25 boxes, it'll be Christmas.

Yet another wonderful idea is using last years left over materials, such as wrapping paper and greeting cards that you received, to create environmentally friendly Christmas crafts with other household items such as jars. After you're finished with that, cut out a circle shape from some cardboard and punch a big enough hole in the center to hold a candle. Using sticky tape, apply the cut out circle shape to the top of a small jar. And that's it! You have beautifully decorated Christmas candle holders.

In addition to those I have mentioned here, you can probably find many more Christmas craft ideas. It doesn't need to be difficult to create a Christmas craft. To make creative crafts of your own, all you need are a few simple tools, materials and a great idea.
