I am looking for pictures of cards that anyone has made with an Anna Griffin Card Making Kit. If you would like to share I would so appreciate it! I have gotten in several hundred of the kits and I would like to share ideas and experiences of others. If you have any pictures or comments please post them here. Thanks so much!
The new 2009 Bucilla felt stocking kits are out now. There is a Fishing Santa, Ballet Bears, Santa Poinsettia Tree, Princess, and Our Family - snowmen. Have you tried felt applique? This needleart form is definitely a portable craft. Everything will fit in a small tote bag, so it's perfect to carry to work, ballgames, and vacations. And the items that you make such as a felt stocking or felt tree skirt are such fun to pull out of storage year after year. I feel a little pride every time I unpack my felt ornaments that I have done over the years. This is definitely a fun craft!
If you do a lot of painting then you most likely go through a lot of paint brushes. When the bristles have even the slightest amount of dried paint in them, they do not perform up to par. So we constantly go out and buy new brushes. I like the One Stroke bushes that Donna Dewberry makes, and I just cannot afford to buy new brushes twice a month. So I use rubbing alcohol. I have been hesitate to suggest this to people, but I have done it for years and it has added 2-3 times the normal life of the brush, so I am going to share.
First wipe as much paint off the brush as you can with a paper towel. Then dip the brush into the alcohol. Now pounce the brush onto a paper towel hard so that the metal ferrel part hits firm against the paper towel. Wipe the brush with the paper towel, and repeat until you do not see anymore paint in the brush. Now wash the brush with a little soap and water. Shape the bristles into the original shape and let dry.
Has anyone here ever been to the CHA convention? I've always wanted to go, but have never made it. It's going on right now, and I just can't wait to see all the new products. Wish I was there......oh well maybe next year.
My latest tutorial is a pinwheel centerpiece made from double sided scrapbook paper, pencils, and thumbtacks. My pictures are not so great, but I didn't realize it until after all of them had been taken. I don't think that I had enough light, and that always seems to be my problem.
What kind of camera do those of you that do tutorials use?
There are several reasons to line your felt Christmas stocking. A lining will protect any loose threads or knots inside your stocking. It will also give an extra level of sturdiness, and it will make your stocking look much more professional. If you are a fan of Bucilla felt stocking kits then perhaps you should go the extra step and add a lining. Check out this tutorial for a great how to make a Felt Christmas Stocking lining.
Donna Dewberry One Stroke Book Okay so this book is titled Gifts to Remember, but I'm not giving away the Milk Glass plate that I painted using one of the patterns from the book. I painted creamy yellow roses on the plate, and ran a yellow ribbon through the holes in the plate. Then I made a hanger with the yellow ribbon, and it just looks too pretty in my kitchen to give away. Maybe the next plate.....
How many of you start your Christmas projects in June? I almost always carry a craft project on vacation with me. My favorite to do are felt kits because they are sort of mindless. I think they take me much longer to make than most people, but I will admit that I am quite slow. I usually will finish 1 stocking in a week long vacation.
This year we are going to Universal Studios in Orlando, so I'm not sure that I will have alot of time to stitch. But I'm taking a kit anyway. I am going to be working on this Dimensions Toboggan Trio Felt Christmas Stocking Kit
