This summer a group of my online friends did a swap with the theme "try a new craft" - mine was embroidery. It took me half the summer to figure out what to embroider, once I did that everything else went quickly. Now I want to embroider all of my cloth grocery bags!
This was my "test" project - the kitty pattern on the tea towel that came with the Stitch It kit.
I decided to make my swap partner reusable produce bags. I got the idea from my swap partner last year, but I embellished mine (they are made out of flour sacks) with embroidery. I ordered the cute vegetable patterns from Sublime Stitching, along with some other cute ones for future projects. I also knit and crocheted the cords.
Since the produce bags didn't take as long as I thought they would I decided to also do a grocery bag.
I liked the idea of the two popular tattoo designs on the bag (both the heart and the sparrow stencils are included in the "Stitch It" kit.
