knitted vase

vase

This isn't the kind of thing I normally do - I know knit-covered objects are old news, and I've never really seen the point of them. I don't like 'exercises in form' that are hard to clean. But... someone's collecting things for a magazine shoot, and showed me a photo of some knit-covered bottles and asked how I thought that might be done. I tried to think of a way to make the whole idea at least a little bit practical.... so it's sort of a sock for an empty pesto jar. It's useful if you have single flowers that need water, and it's better than throwing all those jars away.

really, i think it's perfect. it looks fresh and modern and doesn't feel at all "old news" to me. plus, it's amazingly resourceful. re-using anything AND making it look beautiful at the same time is super.
