completed this apron thursday night. it's McCall's 4793, the "Retro Collection". i'm assuming they took one of their old patterns and re-used it? heh. in any case, i raided my stash and pulled out some pieces i thought might be fun to put together.
no, i'm not birthin' any babies. just sewing stuff for friends...
a jumper for a friend's soon-to-be-born son.
and a dress for a friend's soon-to-be-born daughter.
all made with fabrics that i had in small amounts, some leftover from previous projects, some just part of the larger "stash". fun stuff. i like making baby stuff because i can have fun with different colors and patterns. i only wish that store-bought big kid stuff (y'know, old lady sizes that would fit ME) could be as much fun! i really do need to make more time to sew stuff for myself, huh?
it's called "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors", in homage to the robert frost poem.
i started this piece back in early 2004, when i was living next to some oh-so-lovely folks... i finally finished it TODAY, after letting it languish in a drawer. finished size = 30" x 42". the fabrics are store-purchased cotton prints, machine-pieced and hand-quilted. warm & natural batting. i didn't go too crazy with the quilting stitches because it's going to be hanging on the wall, so i'm not super worried about the batting shifting.
hopefully my next one won't take so long to finish.
