About Thread...
Q: ...I admit it is the most elementary, but I am wondering what kind of thread is best to use so that I can make multiple passes through size 11 seed beads (I guess a hint or 2 on needle size and type is in order too!!), for instance, if I want to make a net or lace sort of pattern.
A: 'Nymo' "A" on size 12 beading needles will get through several times. 'Nymo' "D" goes through about 3 times with most beads. There will be some variation with different 11/0 beads re: hole sizes - Japanese ones seem to have the largest (even non-'Delicas'). Pearlized colors usually have the smallest, due to the coating. I think I would try size B 'Nymo' threader, maybe size O, if you have to pass through the beads 3 or 4 times more. A thread conditioner helps the thread glide through when it is the third or fourth pass through the bead. Check the hole sizes in your beads and be sure to use the same type of hole. Every once in awhile, the hole will vary depending on the bead finish. I have been three rows into a pattern when I discover the "red pearlized" bead won't work in my design. Have fun and experiment a little with the thread, those that are darker in color contain more dye and are just a hair thicker, so trying different colors can change things!
