Amulet Bags.
Q: I recently made my first amulet bag in tubular peyote. I can't help but think of making a evening bag size, but I am not sure what I could use as a form. I thought of using a 2 litre soda bottle, but it was too slippery, and the beads wouldnt stay in place. I thought about using an oatmeal box, but I am at a loss as to what size it would turn out. Can anyone give me some guidelines about this?
A: If the 2-liter bottle is the diameter you want, then try wrapping masking tape (or something else) around the bottle, so that the beads are next to that rather than the actual bottle, and won't be so slippery. I thought the same thing, to use a larger form. I ended up using a large shampoo bottle, empty and washed out. Since the bottle was colored plastic, it had a bit of texture. It was really only useful for the first dozen or so rows. Then, it was easier to hold it in my hand. You begin to see bag forms in everything in the house, rolling pins, wine bottles, 'PVC' pipes......
