HELP! Newbie Question About Threads And Needles.

Q: Are you actually sewing the bead designs? If they are calling for #10, you are probably doing regular free-hand beadwork.

A: I've really been enjoying reading this newsgroup over the past week. :-) I'm new to beading, and obsessed already! I've already made necklaces for all of my friends. One of my pals wears her necklace everyday! I'm SO pleased, since I made it with power beads and other beads that will help her get through her impending divorce. Anyway, before I ramble anymore, I picked up a book on bead purses and I have NEVER sewn with beads, so I went out to the regulars - 'Michael's', 'Joann Fabrics', and 'Wal-Mart' (amazingly good bead section here) - but haven't been to 'Bead Bazaar' quite yet (we have limited bead places near me) and found NO size 10 beading needles like the book said I need. The ones I finally found had teeny tiny eyes that wouldn't fit the type of thread I bought, ACK!!! Is this the case with all needles? Can anyone recommend a size for a newbie to work with (both bead and needle size) as well as thread? This brings me to my next questions: "Nymo" is called for, but nobody here has heard of it. Is there an alternative name, or just a plain alternative? Anyone have any recs as to where I could find it?
