Peyote Pricing?
Q: If I were to make a freeform peyote bracelet, or a necklace with a lampworked bead, what kind of price should I charge for it? Time wise, the freeform takes quite a while, plus each one would be unique. Has anyone had any experience in selling this type of jewelry?
A: I have some limited experience here that I'm happy to share: I made a couple of freeform bracelets for a co-worker to give to her nieces last year for Christmas gifts...the bracelets were both quite small (for little girls) and made without a focal lampworked bead. It was also very early in my freeform "career" so to speak...I had learned from 'Emily Hackbarth' instructions from about.com, and had only done a couple practice pieces prior to making the bracelets. I probably used about $3.00 worth of materials, at most, for each bracelet, and charged $15.00 for each bracelet. Were I to sell the same bracelets now, I would charge at least double for them, given the time that each one takes. My freeform bracelets ranges from 30 to 45, depending on the uniqueness of the focal beads (some are vintage). They have sold at that price. Neckpieces: from 200 to 250, although, I have to say, I haven't sold one yet. :( Bracelets are around $45 depending on focal beads, and $250-$300 or higher for collars, but that would greatly depend on you and how fast you create them...
