Homemade personalized gifts are as much fun to create as they are to receive. A personalized gift shows that you have put some time into their gift and it will show that you know what they like and what interests them. Although, it does take a little more time and effort to create the perfect personalized gift, sometimes they are appreciated more because of the time and effort that was placed on the gift. * Shop at your local dollar store for clear glass mugs or in the color of your choice, as long as they are blank. Paint the persons name and any other design you want on it, let it dry then place it in a gift bag.

* You can make a personalized poem with the recipient's birthday, date of moving in their new home, wedding date, or even their birthstone along the margins using a word processing program such as Word or Works. Print it out and place it in a frame for gift giving.

* Burn a CD with the recipient's favorite songs or even from the year they were born. You can present it in a gift bag as well.

* Create a scrapbook of your memories with the recipient. Gather photos of the two or three of you together or gather pictures of the person's life, his wedding, his graduation, the birth of their child or other big milestones in their life. Put all the pictures together on scrapbook paper. You can do just a page, also, and frame it for a keepsake.

Another great home gift is a calendar made with your own pictures. Select the pictures you want to use then choose a company like Vista Print, or Shutter fly and select the calendar type you want to make. Upload your photos for each month and rearrange them until you are happy then order as many as you would like. However, if the company allows you to print your own make sure you use photo stock paper. Personalize it even more by adding birthdays, anniversaries, and other important events.
