Drilling Bead Holes In Wood.

Q: I'm going to buy some small wooden Russian dolls to make into jewelry - they are like the very innermost doll of a Russian nesting doll. I was wondering how would I go about drilling a small hole through the doll so that I can string it? Is this something that a jeweler would be able to do? Would I have to have a woodworker do this? Can I buy a tool to do this?

A: I use a "Dremel" which is a small high speed drill for all my drilling. You can buy it at a hardware store. This drill is similar to what a jeweller would use but I presume not as heavy duty since it's 1/2 the price. You can buy all kinds of extra accessories for it, including a drill press so it keeps the drill in a steady position for doing very delicate, exacting work like that.
