Paper Mache Crafts
You can make a paper mache masterpiece by following these simple instructions:
1. Create a form that will be the basis of your paper mache. Then prepare the paper mache paste of the desired proportions. Once you have made the paste, simply tear some newspapers into small pieces and then drop one piece after the other into the paste that you have created.
2. Hold your strip over the newly created paste and then run it right through fingers in order to squeeze of any excess paste that has formed.
3. The next thing is to stick the strip of newspaper right over the desired form that you have already created. Remember the form will be the basis from which you will generate a paper mache.
4. Cover whatever you have made completely using newspaper strips that form a layer. Let all the strips overlap. Once you have applied one layer, leave it for 24 hours in order for it to dry. After this time has lapsed, add another layer and give it a similar duration in order to dry out.
5. Keep repeating the process of sticking newspapers until you have achieved the desired effect. Three layers are enough for you to end up with a good craft. By this time, the kid will have learnt many things about how to make paper mache crafts. Once the kid has learnt how to follow all the steps, he should be able to make paper crafts entirely on his own.
6. The last step is to paint the paper mache craft and put it in a place where everyone can see what a wonderful creation you have made.
Here are tips that will help you make a masterpiece:
1. Make sure that you tear the newspaper down into strips. Never cut these strips out! You have to teach your kid about the importance of tearing rather than cutting newspapers. Torn strips are easier to smooth out compared to cutouts.
2. You have to be very generous when dipping these strips into the paper mache crafts paste. Each strip has to be thoroughly saturated for the best effect.
3. Before you add another layer of cutouts, make sure that the previously attached layer has dried out completely. This ensures that the resulting product is beautiful and that all features of paper mache crafts come out.
4. Last but by no means the least, use as many pulp recipes as possible for your paper mache crafts.
