Fun Halloween Crafts

Halloween is a time for decorating, be it transforming your home into a spooky haunted house for neighborhood children or getting ready for a party with friends and family. Decorations don't always have to be expensive though, or store bought for that matter. Follow these quick tips for making Fun Halloween crafts such as Halloween mobile, and you'll have a homemade decoration that's as fun and easy to display as it is to make and suitable for all occasions.

Mobiles are simple to assemble and can be placed almost anywhere around the house. Younger children may especially enjoy making them as it is likely that they will be able to complete nearly the entire project by themselves. To make a Halloween mobile you will need: different colored construction paper, scissors, string, and a bundle of thin wood sticks, which can be acquired from most craft stores. Once you've got your supplies ready, think about what shapes you'd like hanging from your mobile. Halloween has lots of easily recognizable characters including ghosts, bats, jack-o-lanterns and witches on brooms.

When you've decided what you'd like to make, begin cutting the shapes of your various characters out of the different colored construction paper. If you don't feel comfortable cutting or drawing them out free hand, try to find something to trace. For example, you could use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter or a clipping of a scary cat from a magazine. Once all of the figures are cut out from the construction paper, pierce a hole in the top of the shape, tie a string through the hole, then tie the other end of the string to an end of one of the sticks, leaving only a few inches of slack. Once all your sticks have a cut-out character hanging from each end, tie the sticks together with a piece of string connecting the middle of each one. Most mobiles start with one stick then have more that hang from below, almost in the shape of a family tree. You may have to adjust where your strings are on the sticks as not all cut-out pieces will be the same weight. When you're finished, display your mobile wherever you like. Its lightness will allow you a variety of options including in front of windows, above beds, and over the kitchen table. Follow these steps, and you're sure to have a festive decoration that's both fun and easy to make.
