'Earthly Treasures Contemporary Beadwork'.
Q: I've heard that there is a craft and gift show at the Santa Fe casino in Las Vegas on November 28, featuring the work of this company, 'Earthly Treasures'. Does anyone know who they are and if it would be worth the trip to see their work. I've heard they are pretty different...
A: I live, craft, and sell in Las Vegas myself. I have a jewelry line that I call 'Earthly Treasures', but my company name is 'Jenn's Gems'. I work mainly with gemstones. I'll be at Cashman Field that same Thanksgiving weekend. I believe I have seen this other jewelry. Two women, who do a lot of elaborate, loomed, amulet pouches. Nice work, but I prefer peyote stitched pouches. I haven't seen them at many shows around town - not sure what their outlets are. It might be worth a look, although I heard nothing about this show, nor is it an annual show. We are the ladies of 'Earthly Treasures Cotemporary Beadwork'! In answer to the post that we saw regarding the show at the Santa Fe Casino in Las Vegas on Nov. 28, a small one day show. Our work is actually not a lot of loomed amulet pouches. Amulet purses, yes, but only (ever) a few loomed ones. We use lots of methods: traditional, and new, devised by the most talented of us. We will have our website pretty soon. This year, we have both had to have cataract removal surgery, so naturally, only a few shows. Our doctor says we are his youngest patients! At least now we can see our beads!!! We also do large abstract pieces, and many, many other things....no limitations for us. We sell to galleries also. A group of instructions and patterns is in the making also. One of us will be having the final eye surgery this Thursday... then, watch out for us!!!!!!!! We love beads and beading, and create for the love of the art.
