Stayed up until 4:30 am reading this one!

...and I got 1/2-way through this book! I couldn't put down "German Boy" by Wolfgang W.E. Samuel. It is the author's true account of fleeing with his mother and sister from the advancing Russian troops, as the Third Reich crumbled in 1945. He tells of how his family were forced to survive, many times by doing the unthinkable, and their suffering from arrest, rape, hunger, and constant fear.
I actually did not pick this book up on my own. It came into my hands whilst helping my friend clean out her recently deceased friend's apartment. She was a lovely woman, and I'm glad to have such wonderful books to read that I'm sure helped her to pass the time when she was feeling tired, weak, and bored out of her mind!
