book club, book read along, etc

i have tried joining book clubs through work and through friends, but i never like the books that they choose. i know there was a suggestion for an online book club, and wondered what happened to that?

or, maybe we could chose a book and have a read along on the boards for it? i dunno. what say you?

It never got started because no one decided on a book. What do you want to read? I'm game for discussing it here.

I think we charged Selah with the leadership responsibilities and then she went and had a baby!!! :-)

I'm about to start reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami.

Would anyone like to read one of those along with me?

Janaka, I didn't see your second post. I'll try to track down a copy of The Kite Runner from my library this afternoon.

i am REALLY enjoying the Kite Runner, you guys. It's been awhile since I've been able to lose myself in a book.

Let me know who is interested - we can do a discussion on it on the boards, what do you think?

i read me talk pretty one day two years ago. i loved it, but not as much as augusten burroughs memoirs. running with scissors, dry and magical thinking.

I'm in the middle of a household move but am VERY interested in participating in an online bookclub. So, don't think y'all are alone. I'll be hoppin' in next month.

It might be good for someone to take the reins and post book club specific-threads, eg.

    AUG BOOK CLUB: Nomination thread

    AUG BOOK CLUB: Discussion thread

    etc.

    Just a suggestion :)

I will also read Kite Runner. Since some of you have already read the book. Do we go ahead & do this one for August?
