    The Secret Life of Bees

Has anyone read The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd? It was a great book and I highly recommend it. Usually I read mostly Scifi and fantasy, but I made an exception for this one. A great cast of female characters and beautifully written! Pick it up!

You hated The Secret Life of Bees?! Curse you! Just kidding. Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Was there anything you specifically hated? Or did you just hate the entire thing?

I read it early last year, but what I remember was that the writing was overly sentimental and that there were a lot cliched female religious symbols. I felt like I was reading a Mad Lib Oprah Book Club book.

it's so wierd... people in my life have had 2 different reactions to this book - love it or hate it. maybe it's just one of those books for some reason. in the end i wasn't so into it (found it overly sentimental as well) but the women in my book club loved it!!

I loved Secret Life of Bees. Now I didn't like the first chapter at all. But the rest of the book was great. I read it when I didn't have many women friends in my life and my heart was sad. This book really helped me get thru that.

I'm usually not into the whole sentimental, womanly type book thing. But I think this one caught me at the right time, a time when a book like this would be good for me.
