    Winter reading list

This is my winter reading list :

    Swell Holiday
    Sophie's World by jostein Gardner
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
    Trading up by Candace Bushnell
    James and the Giant Peach
A million little pieces by James Frey
My Friend Leonard by James Frey
    Mosquitoes by Faulkner

What do you want to curl up with this winter while sipping hot cocoa by the fire in your coziest pj's?

I am hoping to read the new Richard Dawkins book The God Delusion and finish the second book in Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle.

i wish i didn't get so burned out on reading during school... usually by the time i have a break i just read magazines.

The Letter of Marque by Patrick O'Brian
    Several cookbooks
Inferno by Dante Alighieri- I try to read it once every two years. Which means it's time for the Iliad and the Odyssey again.

I firs want want to finish a few I started a while ago - like Stephen Jay Gould's "Mismeasure of Man."

    Then I want to read:

    -the new Harry Potter, finally
-"Peace in Times of War" by Pema Chodron
    -more Jeanette Winterson!
-"Summer Crossing", one of the only novels by Truman Capote I've yet to read
-"The Clock Winder" by Anne Tyler
-"A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving
-"City of Falling Angels" by John Berendt
-"La Figura Bella" by Beppe Severigni (sp??)
    -"Guns, Germs & Steel"

Sigh. If only we could find a job where you get paid for pleasure reading.....

I really liked this book. Parts are really creepy and sad though.

    winter hibernation list

I think I am going to work on the classics I haven't gotten to.
I intend to read as many as possible,
and if there is a movie - watch it while I am working on my list.

    I recently watched:

    Lolita... (the newer version)
The Great Gatsby... (newer version with Mira Sorvino)
    A Passage to India...
    Bleak House
Portrait of a Lady (with Nicole Kidman)
Pride and Prejudice (new one- but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the BBC version)
    Emma
    Sense and Sensibility

    I love any literary movie.
Has anyone seen any good ones lately?

While I am working on my reading list I thought I could see as many movies as possible. My library has tons free to borrow.
I am watching the new Merchant of Venice tomorrow/ or right now when I log off...

I'm trying to get through a few books this winter

100 years of solitude by gabriel garcia marquez
    catch 22 by joseph heller
on the road by jack kerouac

well, only 3 books but i for some reason have the hardest time getting through 'on the road' and i usually just pick up some other books as time goes on but thats all i've got on my "to read" list at the moment
