I have a Nook and love it! And for the Nook unless you have the wireless on all the time then you can go for a while without re-charging which is good for me since I have a tendancy to forget where I put my cord.

I had a question about the Kindle Fire because I was considering purchasing it: does it perform most/all of the functions of a regular tablet (e.g., iPad, Galaxy Tab) for that cheaper price of $199?

Personally I would get a Kindle Fire.
The differances I see are Kindle runs a version of Android which supports more online apps and tools.
Nook runs Android too, but a lite version.
Amazon has a huge cloud service (AWS) that supports native Android apps.
IMO you get more for your money with the fire.

KINDLE!!! all the way!! i feel like you can do a lot more with it...its easier to carry (the nook is super long and has a random hook looking thingy for no reason)...the kindle battery life lasts a long time too and if you have an HTC phone or one with the same charger dock..u can use your kindle charger to charge it sumtimes if u need a quik jump (not to be used for extended periods of time on your fone..will destroy battery................eventually

I've had both and I much prefer the Kindle. I had trouble with my Nook downloading my purchase. I actually have a Kindle application on my tablet that I use and order straight from Amazon with no problems. Love it!
