    Good Eats!

    Who loves Alton Brown?

I love the show, he is like the Bill Nye of cooking.

and always has some handy hints or tricks to share. I dvr all the episodes, and even bought his book.

He's growing on me. Initially I was a bit put off by him, too showy in a drama dork kind of way. But the information is good. You've given me an idea to do a poll of favorite show on Food Network!

I love alton! Some of his "altonisms" stick with me for weeks. My favorite: "nothing says lovin' like duck fat." How can a cook not love him?

I have "I'm just here for the food" and really enjoy his show. I use his shrimp cocktail recipe several times a year - the cocktail sauce with wasabi in it is delicious!

ok, i saw an episode of this show about pie crust where he said that lard is actually better for you in some way than butter-- anyone remember this? does it have less cholesterol? i have been quoting the episode without really remembering in what way lard is healthier.

I LOVE Alton Brown! I love the stand mixer with the racing stripes. :) He has a blog on his website, but it isn't updated very often.

My favorite Good Eats is the honey episode just for the vomiting bee sock puppets. :)

another alton brown fan... and i often lurk on his website too. =) my brother (a very NONcooking person) was hanging out at my place, and i had the food network on TV. it was alton brown that kept him glued to that channel (everything else would have been too boring for him) hehe

i did some googling, and apparently lard has less cholesterol and saturated fat than butter, but i think that's pretty weak evidence for it being "better for you". it's still pure fat.

    and plus, it's lard. gross.

    i do love Alton though.
