The Smoothie Exchange
So I just got a blender last week and have been experimenting with making smoothies. I wanted to share a couple of my favorites and see if anyone else had delicious smoothie recipes. If anyone tries one of these recipes and comes up with a yummy variation, post that too. Have a smooth day!
Each of these recipes yield 1 serving:

1 tsp. honey (or to taste)
2 cubes of ice
-Blend all ingredients until smooth
Tart Morning Pick Me Up

My morning smoothie consists of: 1/4 block soft tofu, one banana, a big handful of frozen berry medley from Costco and enough oj to make it thin enough to drink. I share this with my daughter.

Thanks for the recipe mrs. stroozi, it was great. I used silken tofu and a combo of blackberries and mango and thought it was quite tasty! I didn't share it with anyone so I was stuffed.

I love experimenting with smoothies. I use skim milk or cranberry juice, flavored yogurt, bananas, ice cubes, honey, and wheat germ as my basic recipe and then go from there.
For a while i was growing my own wheat grass and juiced it and froze it and I would add that to my smoothies.
Sometimes I throw in carnation instant breakfast powders if I'm doing the smoothie for a meal to give it more staying power.

I joined a farmshare this summer so we get a box of organic vegetables every week. And almost every week without fail we get kale. Kale is one of those superfoods but I don't really like it cooked, so in an effort not to waste it, I got some good advice from a friend.
You just tear all the leaves off the tough ribs, and run it raw through the food processor with a little water until it's all completely processed. Then pour it in ice cube trays and freeze.
Each time you make a smoothie after that, you can toss in a cube or two and it's barely noticeable.
Ordinarily our smoothies consist of:
Vanilla yogurt
Banana
Frozen blueberries (which we picked ourselves)
Whatever fruit/vegetable juice we have on hand
Kale cubes!

I think I'd like to try the wheat germ, how much do you add for one serving?
I like the idea of kale cubes (I love cooked kale so that would be a great way to enjoy raw kale). It's a lot like frozen wheat grass packets I get from the food co-op for smoothies.

Tako,
Re: wheat germ, I usually add 1-2 tablespoons for a smoothie meant for 2 servings.

Ginger is great in smoothies. You can buy juiced ginger - or juice it yourself . Just 1/2 ounce of ginger in your smoothie is DELISH. I love it along with plain yogurt, frozen banana, berries (i just picked a ton of blackberries and froze them), and soymilk.
