i've got food on the brain. who's cooking xmas dinner? my bf and i are in nyc, both away from family this year so i'm going to try a german-inspired xmas since he is homesick for germany:
roast duck w/ cherries and black peppercorn sauce
mashed potatoes (we don't like potato dumplings)
green bean casserole (i didn't make one at thanksgiving)
cheesecake w/ lemon-blueberry topping (not really german but it's our favorite dessert)
i miss xmas in the philippines w/ my family, where we have a whole roast pig and someone stands there all night to carve it. i know there are a lot of vegetarians here but i grew up on meat! sorry if this grosses you out :)

Your's sounds like it will be good! We travel around quite a bit in the few days before Christmas, but we always spend Christmas day at home. This is our dinner:
- Roast Duck (not sure how I'm doing it yet)
- Norwegian Meatballs
- Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- Bread Stuffing
- Egg Noodles
- Pie (not sure which kind yet)
- Lots of Christmas cookies!
We also have a simple brunch after gift opening, so I'll have:
- Crumb Coffee Cake
- Tea and coffee
one thing that my family always does on christmas morning is eat cookies with breakfast. we're normally not into sweets, but having cookies and coffee always hits the spot.
Mouth watering!! I love duck. We, have a regular turkey dinner with yams, green beans either casserole or mixed with bacon, mashed potatoes, and some finger foods. Even tho my boys are in their twenties they still love the relish tray with black olives for their fingers.
Any good ideas for a Christmas bake off?
Last year me and my girlfriend made a ginger bread house, with snow (icing sugar) on, a sleigh with a chocolate Santa i and reindeer cupcakes pulling it, a Christmas tree cupcake with peppermint cream parcels, and a sponge snowman with icing.
How can we top that?
Yes l am looking forward to the food side of christmas. When you spend hours cooking in the kitchen and you finally sit down to eat you do truly enjoy christmas dinner.
We just do Boston Market lol
It's almost Christmas again! Need to start thinking of what to cook. And eat.
