    Bake Back the Whitehouse

Anybody going to the www.moveon.org bake sale on Saturday?
The closet one is an hour away from here so I doubt I'll be able to. I'd love to bake a big batch of cookies and drop them off though.

I just got back from going to 3! The first one was over and gone by the time we got there, the second one was sold out but we still got to talk to the people, who were so cool. They raised $1200!!! in 3 hours!!!

They gave us a printout of where the other ones were. We went to the third and actually got to buy some sweets! They were delicious. I got a great mix of stuff, the best were these scarily/amazingly packaged "Anti-Condi Blondies," 100% vegan. Yum!

So now we are trying to plan a bake sale in combination with our art sale, on May 1, in the front yard. I just need to clear it with the owner of the coffeehouse!

It felt so good to donate my $20 and talk to cool people and get some treats out of it--SO MUCH different than just mailing Kerry a check or something so impersonal.

    Yay for activist bake sales!!

We went to several in Chicago, but I was really disappointed to find that only one had even a single vegan item - and those were some really sad-looking dried-out cookies that I couldn't bring myself to try. My roommate sampled lots of different goodies though and was very pleased with the things she ended up with.

I guess next time I should cook some vegan goodies of my own if no one else is doing it!
