    “Sustainability, Health & Meat”

CUNY Graduate Center – Saturday, May 8, 2004

Join the Baum Forum on May 8th to demystify issues about meat in the marketplace through dialogue and discussion. A panel of specialists will discuss a variety of subjects related to the production and consumption of sustainably raised meat. Learn what influences the government regarding food safety regulations and which production practices are safer and more sustainable. Gain valuable information that will enable you to purchase with confidence. Have these words clearly defined: organic, grass fed, grain finished, locally raised, antibiotic and hormone free, irradiated, and natural. These are just some of the terms influencing the choices meat buyers make in these days of headlines about mad cow and the Atkins Diet.

The discussion will be followed by a guided tasting of sustainably produced meat products.

I wish I were still in NYC and could attend! but I'm forwarding this info to my the head of my old CSA and maybe she'll be able to go.

the topics of food and sustainability are so important to me. Jean, I'm a little envious of your studies!
