    new mommy gifts

The thread on preparing for the new baby prompted me to start this thread. There are lots of great gifts for babies, but what can you give the mom? And let's think of crafy ideas to post as well!

For me, any new mom I know of within reason gets a hot cooked meal delivered to her door. Not exactly crafty, but definitely homemade! No frozen lasagna--when is she gonna think about putting that in the oven?

The new mom also gets a pocket changer changing pad that I make for her, and if she's interested, a sling.

What do you craft or cook up for the new mom?

offers to help with stuff like laundry, dishes, running out to the store are great! even better, an offer of an hour or two of babysitting, if you're brave enough! i got about an hour off from the baby when she was around a week old and i felt like such an outlaw! it was weird but nice.

We've pitched in to buy friends a certificate from a spa, for when they need a little quiet mommy pampering time. They can then pick whichever service they want. And offers to babysit while mom is off pampering herself!

My sis when she had the last baby wanted lingerie that fit the new tatas. Her husband did too, but no touchy , touchy for a while because of a c-section. But she deserves to feel pretty and enjoy being sexy new mommy!!
Oh, I also made her and her husband sit and hang with both the kids (mr.man was only 3) while I cleaned the whole house.

about 2 weeks after my baby was born my mom watched her for a few hours so I could go out and do some yarn shopping. It was awesome! I bought yarn for a sweater for the baby, but even still, it was so nice to get out of the house all by myself.

I second (third?, fourth?) the give of time.

I know what I needed - new clothes. So a gift certificate and a babysitter while I shopped would have been appreciated.

But I know I appreciate the extra hand in doing chores.
