    moldy Army Pack-need help!

My oldest started 8th grade today (!) and his "new" army pack he wants to use to carry his stuff is moldy oldy smelling. I aired it out for a week on the back porch with little difference. Any one have a tea tree oil spray reciped or anther idea to get rid of the stink?

OOH! I just happened to be reading this camping website last night, and they have a "recipe" for a natural solution for cleaning moldy tents. Maybe it would work with the backpack?

    1 cup lemon juice
    1 cup salt
    1 gallon warm water

The directions say to start by brushing off any mold outdoors, then clean w/ the solution and leave it outside to dry thoroughly.

I would imagine that you'd want to rinse it off thoroughly too, to prevent the lemon from bleaching the fabric while drying out in the sun. Could always try it out on a scrap of similar fabric 1st, to see how it reacts to the fabric.
Let me know if you try it and how it works!
