    Advice for Cleaning Shower Doors??

I have a walk-in shower, and the bottom of the door is awfully cloudy with soap scum. Yuck-eeee. I've tried all kinds of cleaners, but nothing totally gets off the scum and water spots. My mom suggested using Downy fabric softener, but that seems like it would make for a very slippery shower floor for the next person who got in it! Does anyone have any other ideas?

vinegar & baking soda. what have you tried exactly? just wondering because if it's lime deposits or calcium build up mixed in with soap scum that makes it a whole differnt challenge. lime away works if that's the case.

I love method brand glass cleaner. It smells nice and minty fresh, and so far I haven't had streaking issues.

Kaboom! works really, really well on soap scum and hard water buildup.

Thanks for all the tips. In the past I've tried Tilex, The Works, and Lysol brands of soap scum remover, CLR, Greased Lightnin' (don't laugh, I'm from North Carolina!), and used fabric softener dryer sheets.

Vinegar+baking soda sounds like a good idea. I'll give that a try. Do you mix them together into a foamy paste and then apply it?

Will also look for Kaboom here.

using straight vinegar would be better than a paste. you need the acid in vinegar to break up soap scum, and adding baking soda to vinegar neutralizes it. maybe you could sponge vinegar on the walls, let it sit, THEN use baking powder as an abrasive to scrub off the softened gunk.

stella's on to something.....i would pour vinegar over it and it should make the scum a little gummy then you could scrape it off with a plastic paint scraper and then try scrubbing with an abrasive scrubby cleaner.

i know you've tried a lot of products and i usually tend to avoid chemical products but, soft scrub has come through for me so many times. (even for pen and marker on vinyl!)

I like to clean the shower/tub while I'm in there. I don't use chemicals, I just scrub. A loofah that was too rough for my body works excellent as a scrubby sponge.

I've also used vinegar and baking soda. Sometimes I'll sprinkle baking soda and scrub. Other times, I'll sprinkle baking soda then pour vinegar on top. That fuzzes up a lot of gunk.
