    Share your tattoo

I'm in a sharing mood today. This is my only tattoo, which I got this summer, in celebration of getting into the PhD program of my choice. It is the triquetra, a symbol for the goddess Bridget, the triple goddess. The triple goddess (maiden, mother, and crone) symbolizes the three stages of life and I felt like I needed to remind myself of these stages, especially rebirth.

(this photo was taken right after, I'm still in the chair):

This is the best photo I have of my favorite tattoo right now. Damn husband taking sleeping photos. I don't usually look this slovenly, I swear!

Here's a link to mine. (It's also academia-related, in that I got it after my qualifying paper was accepted and I formally got my master's and permission to continue on in my PhD program.)

It's a reference to the Ramona Quimby books (the first "chapter" books I read on my own). I fugured since I was dedicating my life to reading, I should put a literary reference on my body.

When I explained its significance to him, my brother said, "That's what happens when nerds get tattoos."

    My immediate reaction to that: AAAAGH! IT'S RAMONA'S Q! :D :D :D

I have two tattoos. They're both too small (I have plans to expand on one eventually; the other I'm still trying to decide how to remedy). I don't have a good photo of either of them. When I get some good pictures, I'll post them.

I have a narrow band on the second (index?) toe of my right foot - black and twisty, like a toe-ring. It's understated and feminine - I luv it.

i'm kind of weird about posting pictures of my tattoos for some reason.

i have "om mani padme hum" around my forearm, and a lotus flower on my chest.

Oooo I just love semicolons!! That's so cool.

I have a gorgeous orange/gold tail-in-mouth koi on my right shoulder blade that I got when I was 16 (now rather faded)...all this time, I have had plans to extend it down my arm with a Japanese-y looking rushing river & more koi, but have never gotten around to doing it. Maybe someday...

I don't have any pictures handy, but I have a circle of stars on my back--seven little stars around a larger one. That's my only tattoo.
