Tile installation - cost?

Sorry to sound so Home Depot - but does anyone know the going rate for tile installation? If I prepare the floors?

I'm going to start pricing it out but thought it would help if i knew of the going rate...

P.S. We've already decided we don't want to do it ourselves, I have two books to finish!

We had talked to someone about doing our kitchen, as a side job for him. He thought for 250 square feet, would be $200 or so, depending on stairs, etc.

Not sure if that helps at all.....but usually if someone does it as a side job it's a lot cheaper.

It is hard to give an estimate since everything varies from state to state. I was shocked when someone in Peoria said that she had gotten a house for 24,000... I thought she was missing a zero because in NJ getting a house for under $300 grand is a great deal.

Also when you go to Home Depot, ask them if they have anyone they can recommend... they often have contractors that have passed their inspections to suggest.
