To those of us, who do kill off many plants.
There is help. I found that Daylilies and Hosta are a perfect cure.
They can withstand almost constant neglect. If you forget to water them, they still will survive.

The lady from whom I bought my house had a patch of daylilies kind of thrown to the fence. Some of them were even above ground. I didn't get around to planting them properly; but hey in the summer they still bloomed and are actually coming back this year too. I can see their little shoots.

I love Hostas but over here the slugs eat them all up...
I don't have a garden at all anymore- but i'm making do with hanging baskets and a few tubs- i'm growing tomatos, beans, lettuce and sunflowers for starters...

I am a plantaholic. I blame it on my dad. He hybridizes daylillies and is a judge in competitions. After he ran out of room at his house (tables with sun lamps and every empty window sill) he brought about 100 seedlings to my sunroom. We have more planted outside. so yeah. daylillies.

My favorites are conifers. They help me feel like my garden is still growing even in the dead of the winter that never ends. I'm also really into garden art. I made a labyrinth out of concrete last year and also a bunch of hypertufa objects.

Gardenweb.com is a great resource and the people are, for the most part, friendly. (be prepared for knowledge overload by the japanese gardening guys and show respect when asking a question, they deserve it)

Jasmine - I was so thankful when I found gardenweb.com! I'm the person who goes through and reads through all the back posts before finally asking a question, and man - I'm ready and rarin' to go, now!

(I even ordered a few mini roses with the St. Patrick's day money my gran gave me. Shhh.)

I got these three, they're going in the back yard in a bright sunny spot:
    Winter Magic
    Cinderella
    Quiet Time

I'm very excited. I'm a plantaholic, too. Got mine from my mom. She's got a giant tropical tree that is older than I am. (Ok, it's about 4 ft tall, not giant) Unfortunately, I was reading through this Poisonous Plants List and have scared myself! Now I'm afraid my dog is going to eat the azalea my fiance brought home for me!

Need a little input, though - I'm going to keep the roses in containers, but want to raise them off the ground, so you know... I don't have random potted plants in the middle of the back yard. Can anyone think of something crafty I could make or do for this? Otherwise, I'll end up just putting them on a bench. (I'm also worried about the wind knocking them over, so if anyone has ideas, I'd love to hear 'em.)

    Happy gardening, everyone!
