    Spring, Sprung?

So on my drive home (Iowa) from work yesterday, I spotted the first Red Winged Black Bird. In my excitement I told my husband "spring is here" he told me "not until you see Robins!"

How do you know spring has sprung?

For me the first day of spring is the first day I actually want to go outside.

    I can't wait.

(I saw a fox in our part of the woods yesterday, but I think they're out and about year round, right?)

I have a crocus about to bloom outside. :) That's good enough for me. :)

for me, early spring is characterized by that fresh smell in the air...you know what i'm talking about, right? :) it's also characterized by sunny skies and the first time you're able to wear your spring jacket outside.

    later spring is characterized by:
    - the sound of a lawn mower
    - the smell of freshly cut grass
    - the impulse to buy a new pair of sandals

roxy, who has yet to see a robin yet (but has her fingers crossed)

At least 5 days straight of days the sun is at least partly out and I actually want to be outside. It has to be 5 days straight though, or with a tiny shower in between a day or two, because winter likes to tease us with two or three good weather days every once in awhile.

Florida has two seasons: Fanter and Sprummer. Sprummer starts for me when my allergies kick up and I can go to the beach again.

When the swallows come back! We have beautiful barn, cliff, and tree swallows here. My sister said she saw some already, but I haven't. Maybe they like her house better?

I saw pussy willows in the supermarket (we used to have a tree but it's gone). That's my sign. Also, forsythia blooming and crocuses darting out of the earth.
