10 things every crafty lady needs -- home edition

    hello all,

i'm putting together a list of things that every crafty lady should have at home to help with home decorating. it's for a magazine called "for me." the idea is to come up with a list of things specific to crafting a cool abode. i have a bunch of ideas, like murphies oil soap for cleaning up any used furniture you find on the street, a glue gun to bejewel book shelf, a collection of cool fabrics for making pillows, sewing curtains, whipping up a table-cloth, a sewing machine (so handy for home projects), power drill, etc.

But I need some more ideas...Any items you just can't live without for your home decorating projects? what am i forgetting? perhaps a staple gun? paint? vingear for removing stains?

    thanks for your help ladies!

How 'bout an iron and fusable webbing for those of us who are sewing-challenged?

    what else....?

    masking tape and duct tape
a good tool set, of course!
a level (has anyone tried those laser level thingies?)
    a sturdy step ladder

I'm sure there will be lots more suggestions.....

Straight edges for painting walls and smoothing wallpapers, borders, etc.
Rulers, yard sticks, tape measures etc. for measuring everything from fabric to spaces when trying to figure what furniture will go where.
I'm also a big fan of cutting implements: good scissors and rotary cutters.

Murphy's oil soap is a great one. I've used it to rescue most of my wood furniture.

    Things I'd be lost without:

Sewing machine or fusable webbing & iron
    Needle and thread
    Dremel tool or drill
    Hammer
Good shears/scissors or a rotary tool
Elmers glue or hot glue gun
    Gaffing tape or duct tape
Sponge brushes- great for glue, paint, etc.
    Pliers

I second the tool kit--I never expected to own a wrench but now I don't know what I'd do without it. (Same goes for hammer, pliers, screwdriver... it's all good.)
