    deal-breakers

i thought of this earlier today when i was sitting in traffic behind a guy who spit big loogies out the window of his truck 3 times during one red light.

more than "turn-offs", these are the things that would cause me to ditch a date immediately:

    -spitting
    -wearing perceptible cologne
    -being rude to waiters/servicepeople
    -being Republican
    -liking Toby Keith

    you?

Haha - too funny. And what a great idea for a thread.

    I would ditch for:

    -interrupting/cutting me off
    -comments about my breasts
    -manicured hands
-under-tipping the waitress/other service folks we encounter
    -sexist or racist comments/jokes
    -bad facial hair

damn, too bad i didn't see this/think about this before my last boor-friend...

    add to this:
    -- name-dropping
-- rude treatment of his mother
    -- homophobia
-- way more interested in my underwear than i am (and i like lingerie)
-- wants to drive my (girly) convertible ALL the FREAKING time
    -- temper, temper, temper

    ALL of the above and:

    - wearing a trucker cap
    - going to hooters, even "because they have good food"
    - regularly attending strip clubs
    - being really into shopping
    - posting pornographic pics of himself online and coming up with lame excuses about why he did it*
    - not standing up for himself when he's wronged
    - resembling tom cruise in any way, shape or form

    *yup, true story. yikes.

    ...A few big ones:

-Preoccupation with the fact that I've dated girls before (or just general and persistant ignorance concerning queer folk).
    -Racism.
-Lousy treatment of people in service work.
-Not having a mind of his own.
-Severe allergies to cats (Fair is fair. They were here first).
-Drinks and smokes pot with high school students (not that i've had experience with this one before, recently, or anything...)
-Chronically critical of the way i live my life.

    Oohhh...

    - unwashed body odour, or poor hygeine practices (boys are gross sometimes)

    - sexist/racist/homophobic comments by him or his close friends

    - any sign of disrespectful treatment to random people, his friends, his family, myself, etc

    - staying home so as to not miss his favourite show

    - eating McDonalds

    - any preconceived notions of what a "wife" or "mother" should be like

These two are definitely going on my list! Also:

-Not sharing my core values regarding racism/sexism/homophobia.
-Not supporting my career or other things in my life that are important to me.
    -Slurpy kisses.
    -Mean-spiritedness.

    practicing alcoholic (recovering ones OK)
    Republicanlike
    fundamentalist Christian
    homophobe
But kiddos, here's a big surprise: I have a crush on a guy who dips. Everything else about him is bueno. He's terribly smart, well-educated, talented actor. Ah, well, it's never gonna get off the ground anyway. But still ... who'd a thunk?

Yes, yes, yes... mustn't forget the friends. You can tell a LOT about who a person reeeeally is by who they choose to hang around with.

Been out of the dating scene a long time, but ditched several beaus for:

    - mistakenly treating me like I'm stupid and taking it upon himself to "teach" me about any and everything. OMG! Like Cliff Claven!
    - spitting
    - smoking...kissing is just gross.
    - rudeness to anyone
    - could date a Republican, but never marry. Sorry.
    - putting everyone/thing else ahead of me...not saying I have to be #1, but it would be nice to be in the Top 10...20...heck, I'd have settled for 49 of 50.
    - calling me Christmas Eve wanting me to post bail...arrested while cheating on me.
