Here's a pathetic thing: I couldn't remember what I was up to last June without checking old entries in my blog.

    Anyhoo, here's the scoop: Apparently I was. . .

*Starting to house hunt and meeting with the buyers' agent
*Consulting with HR on what I felt was a labor law violation in my dept and getting NOWHERE
*Spending a rainy weekend in Maine with my husband's huge extended family that has like 807 kids under the age of 6
*Scouring WebMD b/c I became convinced I had a case of "black hairy tongue." But it turns out I was eating a lot of kiwis and the black seeds were staining my tongue black. Mystery solved.

CraftyChica, cool post - it is interesting to force yourself to look back.

honestly I can't remember exactly what happened when, but I believe I did the following last June:
Was working on the beach, no prospects for a 'real' job, went home to visit b/f who lived in Boston
was applying like mad but seeing little results, was living in a house with two other girls, had some roommate drama where replacing one roommate turned into a nightmare, new roommate wouldn't sign agreement, left me to finding a roommate for the month of june, I found one through my work at the surf school, she was a peach, then that other person came back and said she was desperate for a place to stay, so we let her live with us and she was so awful that i gave her her month's notice at the beginning of her actual tennancy.
I believe I also went through some job drama, where I thought I was going to get a job, they were even taking me out to lunch, which was rescheduled to breakfast, I was a "perfect fit" i just had to meet one person on the team, and then apparently all of a sudden i "just wasn't the right fit" and when pressed for reasons or things i could improve upon, they weren't at liberty to say :-P.

June was pretty tumultous, b/f didn't live here, condo and dog didn't exist, neither did my real job...alot has happened since last year! :)

    This time last year,

I was way excited to get my last year of high school over with. (I graduated a few days ago!)

    I had a lot less self-esteem.

I was so very single, and after a few months, I stopped caring, and that's when cupid bumped into me.

I had two best friends, one of which I'm not friends with who says that she still cares for me and my other friend, but for some unknown reason, doesn't want to associate with us anymore.

I put my first offer on a house. The offer wasn't accepted, but I eventually bought a house that I love (it took another four months).

I was accepted into my grad school program for conflict management and peace-building.

I was at the same job as I am at now. I was not wanting to be here, just like I don't want to be here right now.

I was living with my boyfriend who I live with now. I was wildly in love and comfortable, as I am now.

I was half of the way through The Artist's Way with my book group.

I was planning a fundraiser at a Summer Solstice party to raise money for our Burning Man camp.

--I keep my old planners (I use the old-fashioned paper and pencil ones) and each week I look at the same week from one year ago. It's fun to remember what was going on. Also, it's like a little celebration of what I've done (the antidote to the never-ending To Do List).

EDITED to change anecdote to antidote. Ooops.

This is a cool thread! ...Although last summer really wasn't that memorable.

    I was:

    * missing my college friends like mad (this year I need the break from them)

    * hanging out at the casino and at Perkins with my good friends (now they've moved)

    * searching desperately for a job for the summer (some things never change)

    - I hadn't been out of the house more than one or twice for an hour at most for about 3 weeks and was recovering from a c-section

    - I didn't have a job and wasn't planning on getting one anytime soon (don't have one now either, but am looking)

    - I lived in another town and thought I'd be there for another 5 years at least (Man, that happened fast. did I just move?)

    - my hair was a train wreck (now it's good)

    - I still looked pregnant (thankfully, I don't anymore, but there is that pudge...)

    last summer I:
had just gone through massive layoffs and restructuring at work (can't believe that was a year ago and I'm still here. Sigh).

was dating a different boy who would dump me at the end of August.

was getting ready to move into another unit in my building with hardwood floors and a balcony!

was taking a poetry class that would lead me to my current writing group, a wonderful bunch of talented and interesting women.

and little did I know at this time last year, but later in the summer I would be getting a kitty cat! Henry and I will celebrate his 6th birthday/our first anniversary in August. :D
