    What is cheap to you?

Have to say that the wedding gifts we have used the most are the seafood utensil set and the waffle iron... Ah, having a man who makes blueberry waffles from scatch as your husband is pure bliss :)

For my best friend and her husband, I made a welcome back from the honeymoon basket. I filled a basket with small cereals, parmalat milk, juice boxes, and other stuff that didn't require refrigeration. That way, either after the wedding before going to the honeymoon or returning a few weeks later, they had something to eat without having to go to the market.

Look at her registry, pick something out and add to it... A mixer plus a bag of cookies in a handsewn bag and recipe for the cookies, a spaghetti pot, with pasta, sauce, red/white tablecloth, and bottle of cianti (with dripping cnaldes for later use of the bottle).

We love our insulated picnic basket! I think it was only $30 and we use it all the time. I love that it's insulated so I can pack a warm meal and it stays warm. Ours is from Bed Bath and Beyond and it came with plastic utensils.

My favorite is the pots and pans my parents got us. I absolutely LOVE to use them, plus they're pretty. Not inexpensive at ALL though...but it's my favorite.

Of the inexpensive stuff...don't go too cheap! Someone got us a box full of kitchen stuff from Big Lots. I love the thought that went into it - she was trying to "stock our kitchen" The bad thing is we've had to throw half of it away because it BROKE! And some of it smelled like ass...so we threw those away.

Anyway. The stuff we use the most that we got for the wedding was kitchen stuff. Like a baking set, pyrex set, stuff like that. I definitely suggest getting something off the registry (so you're not getting something they don't want/need) and adding to it on the same theme with some personalized things and handmade stuff too.

We don't use it much, but my other favorite thing we got was a crocheted blanket that my husband's grandma made us.

One of my absolute favorites was a pair of hand-knit Christmas stockings! They're personalised with our names. One of them has Santa and one has a snowman. They are beautiful and they just make the room when they're hanging from the mantel! Plus I use them every year!!!

I also got a set of baking dishes which was quite handy. And a pewter bread dish. It came with a personalised cloth to wrap the bread in, but may be used without it.

And someone just framed our invitation in a store-bought frame. At first I thought it was quite cheesy, but it looks nice and I loved the invitation, so that worked.

A store-bought blanket, which was sort of a throw for the couch. A hand-painted bird feeder! I'm thinking..........

anniversary, well, booze can work pretty well: you can buy a nice bottle of champagne for them to share on their first anniversary, a bottle of wine that will mature in five years, a bottle of swanky scotch that will be best in ten, and so on. a good wine merchant should be able to point you toward something that will age to suit the time period you have in mind.

this might be more of a bridal shower-type thing, but i'd have to say the best inexpensive and meaningful wedding gift i received was my recipe box. my mom bought a nice little box with matching cards, which she sent out to the women in our family to fill in their own special recipes in their own handwriting. it means a lot to have something like that, especially the recipes from my grandmother, who is no longer with us. being a craftista, you could get a plain box and make it super crafty to make it mean even more. it's a special gift that will be cherished always.

Something off the registry is always best, they already want it and you know it. Someone gave us a cake pan off our registry with mix, frosting, and sprinkles, which was great and we used right away. Usually if its off the registry they won't notice the value because they asked for it.

We recieved alot of cutesy wedding frames, which in themselves is nice and thoughtful but so not our style and will probably stay in the boxes forever. The thing with giving home decor items is if you don't know the couple 100% and know they would love it it might hang in a closet for quite awhile.

I appreciated the kitchen things the most as I had handmedowns for years, its nice to use something heavy and well made.

Our best wedding gift was our Brita water filter pitcher. We use it every single day, and it is fabulous. It wasn't even something we registered for, I don't think - but we love it.

The most fun gift we got was the Nintendo 64, but we hardly ever play that any more. The Brita wins, hands down.

This will sound weird, but a shower head. It's removable, so we can move with it. It saves energy and uses less water and it has several different settings. It was one of those gifts that we thought it was a little odd at first and now can't live without.
