would you rather (relationship q?)
i think its rare to find a relationship where both people feel exactly the same about each other, so my question is:
would you rather love your partner more than they love you, or they love you more than you love them?

i don't think it's all that rare. and either option is pretty grim, so i would rather not be in a relationship at all if those were the only choices.

NOt voting, but Iv'e heard it said that you fall in love with your partner many times over the course of a long relationship. So maybe we are all busy switching places on the love scale in order to keep the balance.

I agree with Hoppy-- love is a daily occurence, not just one person loving the other more or less forever...

I think this is true. Sometimes I think I love my boyf more than he loves me, other times I think it's the other way around.
And sometimes I think I shouldn't analyze it so much. :-)

maybe you're right . . . i've felt this way in all my past relationships, so maybe i just haven't found the person that gives me the right balance.

so true! i clicked off "love" anyway. cheesy as it sounds, the more i love the sweeter i am and the more he loves me back. the less i love the more bratty i act and boy does he reciprocate!

The 'in love' feeling ebbs and flows in intensitys between the two people an a relationship constantly and over time so I really find I can't respond to this question; it's too static a propostion, and realtionships are not static. One 'needs' the other more at different times and you wanna be with someone who is as committed as you are to maintaining the relationship OVER TIME regardless of the vicissitudes of the 'in love' feeling.

What MlleEmily said!
And I celebrate my tenth wedding anniversary on Thursday, so hopefully I have a little bit of credibility. :)

Congrats, DJules! Happy anniversary to you and your loved one. :)
I'll be married for five years come April and am always inspired by the longevity of other people's marriages (most of the previous generation in my family was divorce crazy, so I look for outside inspiration ;).
Again, congrats :D
