My friend''s family writes poems for each other. It is one of the coolest things I have ever seen a family do. They will actually quote each other''s poems occasionally in emails that I have recently been included in for some reason. My friend has made beautiful pottery for her siblings et al, but those poems are always a part of the gift.

For Christmas I usually give each person one homemade and one storebought gift, but being so strapped for cash this year I might have to do all homemade for my friends and family.

For the past few years I've been doing all handmade gifts. I usually start making them a little late though, last year I didn't start until about December 2nd and finished them only a couple days before Christmas.
Check out my blog to see how my mind works.

I also love that site I made a Christmas wreath out of plastic bags last year with miniature ornaments and silver cording and I sent it to the site and they published it. Here's the picture of it and this year I am doing some ribbon wreath with different kinds of ribbon.

Most of the people tend to choose an unusual type of gift during Christmas to surprise their friends or loved ones.Unusual gifts for Christmas are indeed great but you should vary it according to the personality of the person. You could surely surprise them however you might also be surprised with their reactions.

Making, teacup candles for girls, haven't decided on a boy gift yet. I'll be customizing each cup and candles scent and color for each lady.
