    Careers in Craftiness

Hi - I've been thinking a lot lately about trying to find a new career and am trying to figure out a way to blend my interest in craft, technology, and marketing. I am not a great artist, but have a strong interest in the industry and love the idea of small businesses thriving. Does anyone have any suggestions for the types of jobs I could look for or are you in a job that fits those criteria? I'd love to hear of new career paths I might not have thought of!

    Hi Lauren,

Have you thought of teaching? I run two very popular membership websites - ZNE (http://www.ZNEart.com) and The Pleasanton Craft Mafia (http://www.PleasantonCraftMafia.com) and the combination of managing those makes for a 60 - 70 hour workweek. Still, if it weren't for the art workshops I teach here and there, sometimes I think I'd never break even nor get in my own critical "fix" of art making!

Good luck to you - I am a huge proponent of everyone following their creative and crafty dreams! If there is ever anything I can do for you, let me know!

    xo - Chel

I wrote something about "how to make money with your craft" at my blog, maybe it will help.
