    Web page design help

I'd like to create a web page to post my craft projects and writing but I don't know where to start or what I need to learn. I can use a computer but I'm not as tech savvy as I'd like to be. Does anyone have suggestions for books or classes or other websites that would help me learn? I'm also looking for recommendations for web host providers.

I'd really appreciate any kind of info. Thanks.

I like the book "Visual Quickstart Guide: HTML for the World Wide Web' by Elizabeth Castro, if you're going to hand-code the site. Also a terrific beginner book is "The NonDesigners' Web Design Book" by Robin Williams (not the comic).

I host my websites with Go Daddy (godaddy.com) and have been very pleased with them. Good service and low prices.

I found a lot of help here:
    http://www.w3schools.com/

That came up for me when I googled css and I ended up using it. A lot.

I designed my webpage by referring pretty much exclusively to http://htmlgoodies.com

It has tutorials in all the basics, but has advanced stuff too.

Also, if you're willing to pay for a website, yahoo offers a pretty reasonable package when you buy a domain name that comes with a webpage builder and a lot of space.

Sorry to hijack but - What if you want to hire a designer, because you want a funky cool site that does lots of stuff....and you want it to look like the coolest site you've ever seen?

I ask, because my husband has created a website product. (It's not one where you just buy stuff...it's something else.) He has the computer programmers and the wedhost - so he was the basics. But he wants to enhance it - the way it looks and works, etc. Sounds like he needs a web designer. Any idea where to look or how much something like that could cost?

    Thanks.
