    Martha Stewart poncho craze

    Have you seen this?

    http://search.ebay.com/martha-stewar...omZR40QQsojsZ1

Everyone is going crazy for the poncho the inmate made for her! Earlier today I saw one sell on ebay for 159.00.

On Monday, interweave.com is posting the pattern for free.

If only I could be patient enough to crochet something that big!

What I find interesting about these auctions is that all of them have added a "Martha Stewart" product to the auction (a washcloth, a towel, a spoon, a magazine). I am guessing that is so they could use her name in the listing without getting sued?

I was reading about her release and poncho on a blog and cracked up when the writer said wake up, martha, ponchos are so 5 months ago.

by the time I finished a poncho, they be in style for the next go round!

A while back, the big craze was the Jessica Simpson shawl- and now the Martha poncho! It's so fascinated how these things catch on, and I thought the "Martha Stewart spoons and crocheted poncho" header was an interesting way to get more hits and not infringe on any Martha copyright.

I predict the Lindsay Lohan crocheted stole or the Kirstie Alley knit shrug to be the next big thing. Because it seems like you have to be in the news a lot with a certain level of criticism or controversy in order to be such a trendsetter.

Oh no, please not the Kirstie Alley shrug! I love shrugs, but I just can't wear them if they're Kirstie Alley! I won't be picky -- just make it any other controversial celebrity. I'll even be fine with it if it's the Angelina Jolie shrug!

[Sorry, I'm up late working on a paper, and feeling kind of giddy.]

    You know....
About 3 years ago I bought a vintage poncho off of ebay from Canada and it cost me around $20 with shipping. When I wore it, I had mixed responses-but usually, "oh, your wearing a poncho". I thought, "you basturds wait and see, there will be a huge poncho craze and everyone will have it on their backs."
As far as fashion predictions go, I have to pat myself on the back sometimes because I can always see what's coming. I guess that's why I like my job so much. But anyway, my point was that people are really funny when it comes to who is wearing what. I have never said, "oh I must buy a shawl to look like Jessica Simpson". I always bought stuff I was into at the time...but low and behold when it becomes "cool" again. I wish people were more "individual" about their tastes in clothing sometimes. Wear it because you want to...not because someone says you should!
Martha's patterns are cool though. I wouldn't pay $165.00 for someone to make me one though.

It cracks me up how yarn companies sell their version of the pattern that all-but-says "THIS IS THE MARTHA STEWART PATTERN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR"

I think lionbrand calls theirs the "coming home poncho"

Why not call it the "Breakin' Free Poncho" or the "Celebrity Inmate Poncho"
