Crafty wedding gift ideas?

i recently got married as well and i'd put in my vote for anything with their initials. one guest gave us cute little rocking chairs each with our first inital in them, just really cute. i'd suggest like a nice throw blanket with their initials and perhaps date or else some scrapbook of your years as friends. i know you're not thinking cash, but i'd have to disagree with the ira suggestion. you'd have to pick their investments, pick out a management company, have their SSN...really you'd be handing them a pile of paperwork and a big headache. anyhoo, i think anything you give her will be special and meaningful b/c you put so much thought into it. it'll be sentimental no matter what.

One of my favorite people in the world is someone I've known since she was three and I was five. She's also the person who taught me how to knit. I just found out she's getting married, in 12-18 months (they have to set a date, etc.).

Her wedding gift has to be really, really cool.

I was thinking of something like a quilt or a knitted/crocheted blanket. But I'm not sure -- after all, this is the friend who taught me to knit, how I can really knit her something that great? And my quilts are all "pretend" quilts (tied quilts, no real patterns, made of recycled materials) -- I know my friend totally loves my quilts, but her husband-to-be's mom makes real quilts, so I feel weird about giving them one.

Any other ideas? I have at least a year, so I can afford to brainstorm for a month or so ... and I figured the Craftistas would be the best people to brainstorm with!

I have an idea. I think the Candles are not hard to make, you can find directions in any of the craft store. Just melt the beeswax add a wick and pour into the container. You can also add coloring and scents to make it a more personalized wedding favor.I think it is the unique gifts of wedding.
