What am I supposed to do with these board games?

I have a bunch of hillarious old board games that I'd really like to display in some way, but I don't know how. I was thinking maybe a small table, but I was wondering if any of you have ideas.

A magazine (ReadyMade, maybe?) a while back showed old board games made into shelves. Just fold them at a right angle and hang them on the wall with brackets underneath. They can obviously only hold lightweight objects, but I still thought it was a great idea.

Last year my neighbors started kind of a decorative junk collection in our backyard garden. I found a couple of old board games in the dumpster and nailed them up to the fence. They're pretty faded from the sun now, but they added a nice touch.

You can cut up the boards into covers for journals and such too.
I bet if you cut them into little squares, you could make coasters. They'd just have to be covered somehow. Maybe seal them with clear sealant, and glue some felt on the underside.

You could attach two same-size, center-fold boards together and put a cardboard bottom on to make a wastebasket. You can seal it with Mod Podge, or leave it unsealed if it's only going to hold waste paper.

You could hang them up on the wall and hang pictures in the center of the board, so that they're kind of a background or "frame" around the framed pictures.

You could get a cut-to-size glass top for your coffee table (or dining table, for that matter) and display them under the glass.

page 58 of the Oct Budget Living showed a tray made from a ouija board.

this might be a stupid question, but does shellac make it that sturdy??

If I'm remembering right, Ouija boards are made of sturdier material than most cardboard game boards to begin with. Shellac just makes a hard (maybe waterproof?) coating, like varnish.

    thanks rratstarr!

I thought it was like a varnish, but then I couldn't see howone would take a cardboard-type board game and make a tray from it, especially if it was a board with a crease in it.

I read a thread on another crafty website where somebody epoxied thumb-tacks to the back of Scrabble tiles and turned the game board into a bulletin board, you could do that with just about any board game. I think the website is still in my history, is it ok if I post it to show what the project looks like?
