    Candy Cane Bath Salts Recipe

    Candy Cane Bath Salts Recipe

    Ingredients:
    2 cups Epsom salts
1/2 cup rock salt or sea salt
    4-5 drops peppermint oil
    2-3 drops red food coloring

    Directions:
Place 1 cup of the Epsom salts and 1/4 cup of rock salt in a mixing bowl or resealable plastic bag. Add 2-3 drops of peppermint oil and mix until they are fully distributed.

Place the remaining 1 cup of Epsom salts and 1/4 cup rock salts in a separate bowl or bag. Add the food coloring and mix until the color is evenly distributed and your happy with the shade of red. Add 2-3 drops of peppermint oil and stir well.

In a large jar or clear bottle-I like to use spring water bottles-layer the white salts and the red salts. You want to create a striped effect, like a candy cane.

    Gift Giving:
Place the top on your container and tie with a big bow and a few real candy canes.

    *Makes about 20oz.

I do think it's a good idea, too, and I'll keep it in mind. However, if I don't give my gifts out before Christmas I try not to give someone Christmas themed gifts, ya know? But candy canes are great for all of winter, and so is that peppermint smell.

If there was red food color in the salts wouldn't it turn the water red? I was just wondering because I think that would kinda creep me out.

you can't really tell b/c when you're using the salts you're really only using a quarter of a drop in a huge tub of water.

I thought the same thing at first but it's true it would be more of a very light pink if you would notice at all.

If you are worried you could try it out before giving it to friends and family.

I plan on trying out my batch.

Do you think the red food coloring will discolor skin?
