    gingerbread dog house?

I want to make a gingerbread type house for my friend's dog. but I want to make it out of dog bones or something else that's edible for doggies....but how would I put it together - can't use icing...is this too crazy or what?

Get a dog biscuit recipe that calls for a lot of gluten. Make a flat thin biscuit of it for your walls and roof. I'd probably bake this on waxed paper or parchment and leave it attached to the back for strength. It won't hurt the dog. Embed purchased dog treats in it before baking.

You would probably still have to use royal frosting to glue it together, but it might not need too much.

you can also melt sugar and then use it as glue when it's golden brown.

I've had good luck using a regular cookie recipe for dog treats. Just don't use chocolate. Eggs, milk, peanut butter, chicken broth, carrots, apples, and other things all can be used for dogs (unless there's an allergy).

Maybe use a recipe and use whole wheat flour, garlic, eggs, chicken broth to add more moisture, and some parmesan cheese. Dogs love garlic and cheese.

You could also build the house around a box form, and then use sisal rope to hold it together, if you really want to avoid the icing.

How about decorating a large jar with a doggy theme and then putting in dog biscuits?

edited to remove raisins, as I didn't know they were toxic.

Please don't use raisins in any treats for dogs, grapes and raisins have been known to cause kidney failure in dogs!!

Personaly I wouldn't use icing in anything that dogs are going to eat, sugar isn't at all good for them! Can you use philly cream cheese instead? Or plain yogurt or cottage cheese or something? Even nacho cheese in a can would be better for a dog than sugar!

My dog loves peanut butter. Maybe you can find some all-natural stuff without sugar added?
I had no idea grapes are bad for dogs! Mine spits them out sometimes, I'll have to tell my mom to not give them to him any more.

Oooh, now I want to make one for my rats! Except they could actually live in it. Haha.

But yeah. PB was what I was going to suggest. My dog loved it too, and it's VERY sticky.

Also, if you made the walls thicker, they'd probably hold together better with peanut butter. This is something I learned in Girl Scouts when we made figures out of misc. healthy stuff and peanut butter!
