tips on how to make this skirt?

I don't know if anyone is going to know what the hell I'm talking about but new for this season are a lot of these peasant type skirts that have jean on the top. I figure if you just chop the top of a pair of jeans off at the crotch, and then sew it to a peasant skirt it should be easy right? Problem is that I'm not sure how to sew the material on. Should I sew the jean right over the top, leaving it fray. Or should I go seam to seam? Has anyone made one of these before? I'll try to get a picture posted.

I would think it would be easier to lap seam it and let the denim fray. Otherwise, I think you'd have to double stitch the seam to get it to lay flat. JMO. Maybe some more experienced seamstress would know better than I. Worst case is you try it one way and rip it out and try it another. BTDT.

Are you talking about something like this??? http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=82234.0

I read your post earlier, then just saw this on the REcon Clothing forum on Craftster. I think it's what you were talking about.

I think I would cut off the jeans closer to the zipper than the crotch, it makes it a little girly-sexier that length. I've made these for my daughter using a friend's skirt as a template, and they really look better with the denim part a little shorter...

    Favorite Jean Skirt

This isn't exactly like the skirt you have it mind, but its a favorite of mine, and I thought you might like it, too. The jeans are stitched on top of the skirt with a couple of rows of stitching, then left to fray.
