    Camping crafts

Anyone have any good crafty things to do while you camp? Adult- or kid-friendly crafts welcome!

(I'm writing a story for Croq Zine on this - if you are interested in helping me out with it, let me know!)

When I was in girl scouts LOOONG ago we used to collect pretty leaves and flowers on camping trips and press them, then put them in wax paper and iron them for sun catchers. I honestly dont remember exactly how we did this process < 20 years ago *gulp*> but I had those hanging in my bedroom window for years. I will google and see if I can find it again!

You probably used waxed paper and ironed them between 2 sheets of waxed paper!

Yep!! here is a lil site... this would look very pretty in some sort of frame situation and hung by a chain.

Nature rubbings are great-- the only material you need to take along are paper and crayons. Just place your paper over cool a surface, like bark or leaves and use the long side of the crayon to rub an impression.

Photosensitive paper would be pretty fun. A good way to preserve cool leaves and foliage that you don't have at home.

The necessity of keeping light out until you are ready to go and (in some cases, developing the prints in water) might make this a more cabin friendly craft than a backpacking through the middle of nowhere craft.

I don't know that it would be considered a craft but if you're in an area that grows wild blackberries you could pick those and stew them over the campfire and bring some angel food cake or pound cake to eat with.

    But the *ultimate* campfire craft.....

Friendship bracelets! Talk about taking me back..

Build fairy houses! Fairy house builders should be sure to only use natural material that's already littering the ground; manmade materials are bad for the environment, and pulling up living moss or breaking off living twigs destroys the habitat.
