    Other uses for yarn...

I like yarn and other fibers, but I don't knit or crochet. What other things can I use these items for?

I've made pom-pons and wrapped gifts with yarn and ribbons before, but I'd love to hear other suggestions.

    Thanks!

You could cover books, photo albums, journals, etc...all you need is some yarn and some glue

    You could weave the yarn

You could make a scarf out of a fun textured yard by loosely braiding the yarn or even tying long lengths together in a bundle

I think the Lion yarn website has some free patterns where they show you how to use yarn in other ways besides knitting/crocheting, like wrapping around styrofoam balls to make ornaments and such.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's a really, really bad idea to let cats or kittens play with yarn. they tend to chew and eat it, and then it tends to wind up in their intestines and cause them a lot of pain. it also requires a very expensive surgery to remove the tangled yarn.

i think you enjoy the yarn itself way too much to do this but i used to be obsessed with unravelling yarn on a canvas painted in one color and then spray painting over it with another (contrasting or monochromatic) i thought it made a really nice looking backround

hot glue + yarn = endless possibilities

the first thing that comes to mind is wrapping it around things such as:
    pens
lamps (the base, esp. easy for skinny lamps)
    vases
    headbands
    purse handles
    flip flop straps
    bracelets
beads (through the hole all the way around)
    etc etc etc

you could also get a needle with a really big eye and use it for emboidery or emphasizing hems

    have fun .)
