shrink 100% cotton sweater?
my beau wants to shrink his sweater. i've read conflicting articles online. i was wondering if anyone had any tips?
also, does anyone have any tips for altering long-sleeves to make them skinnier?
thank you kindly :}

you can try machine-washing and drying the sweater on the hottest settings. if it will shrink at all, that will do it. if it has already been machine washed and dried, it probably won't shrink more, though. cotton sweaters sometimes shrink in length but not width, which generally isn't great.
for the sleeves, it kind of depends. are you talking about the sleeves of the sweater? is it loosely knitted or a fine gauge?
For the sleeves, you'll need to take out the inner arm seam and resew it a bit narrower (you'll be increasing the seam allowance, basically). Depending on how you narrow it, you might have to do some fancy altering of the armhole at the shoulder as well. Good luck!
hm, he sent me a pic w/ his phone so i can't really tell but i'm sure it's not loosely knit.
