Get Crafty Community Guidelines
The Forum and Blog Codes of Honor
Here are the rules we live by.
Get Crafty is a place for sharing your creativity, thoughts, dreams,
plans, craft project updates or what you ate for breakfast. That said:
Please do not use your blog as an advertising tool. Even if your company
is super-bitchen crafty-tastic, the blogs are meant to build community,
not businesses. (We are working on a tool that can help you sell your
stuff online called etsy.com, due to go live this summer.)
Please refrain from pornography, unless it is highly crafty.
Please do not use a flashing, animated avatar. It hurts our eyes.
Please do not post super-duper huge photos. It takes too long to download.
Please post your comments on other people's blogs and respond to forums.
It's a nice thing to do.
Please have fun.
How
to Organize and Participate in a Swap
Here's how swaps usually work:
One
lead craftista comes up with an idea to swap, say, christmas tree ornaments. She
posts a message on the Swaps forum and people reply saying they want
to participate. Then the lead craftista matches up participants and
they exchange addresses and send each other their homemade christmas
tree ornaments through the mail. Not all swaps are handmade items, they
could be clothes, gifts, CD's...whatever. The most important element
of a good swap is trust. If you agree to participate and then renig
and don't send your item out ON TIME, it ruins the whole swap; it's
like bidding on ebay and then not sending your money. Before you join
your swap, please make sure you can follow through.
Swaps
are a beautiful way to share the craft, but only if everyone plays nicely.
