Post Subject: Central Indiana Crafters and Artists!!!!!
Central Indiana Handmade Crafters and Artists! This includes Kokomo, Bloomington, Lafayette area, Terre Haute, and Indianapolis Metro:
As some of you know, I moved to Danville, Indiana (on US 36 just west of Indy) this summer. I live in a former B&B and Tea Room that is just off the courthouse square downtown on Main Street. It is a BIG PINK HOUSE that gets a lot of attention.
Well, Sept 10-11 the Tri Kappa organization is having Art Fair on the Square. I got in on it too late for an "official" booth on the square, but I think that might be fate because it would be much better for me to be set up here on my big pink porch with my big parking lot. I am also not limited to their rules regarding only selling jewelry or only selling wearables, etc.
So I am having a Big Pink Trunk Show & Sale and I am inviting you to participate by either coming here and setting up to handle your own sales at no cost to you (!!!FREE!!) OR for a reasonable consignment fee, i'll sell them for you.
Those interested in consignment:
As I said above, i'll sell your goods for you on a 80 for you and 20 for me split. In that situation, i'll handle all sales taxes under "Queen of Indiana" with the state. You will need to have your items to me and tagged with prices and ready to go by Friday 9 PM.
I can meet you in Indianapolis Thursday PM or Bloomington Friday at Noon to pick up your items if you can make it out here to drop them off by Friday at 9 PM.
Those interested in selling your own items here on the Big Pink porch:
You will need to bring your own table/display.
Be here by Saturday at 8AMish.
Also, if you cannot do Saturday, you can always do Sunday. The fair is both the 10th and 11th!
email me at pam@queenofindiana.com with Big Pink Trunk Show in the title. Let me know what you sell (website, if you have it) and we'll go from there! :)

Well, depending on how long you want to sit in the car... I am in Louisville, Kentucky.
Time sensitive: the St. James Court Art Fair is the first weekend in October. One of the best art shows in the country - I always leave inspired.
Anytime, Louisville (who knew?) is a great spot to check out art glass. Lots of galleries and shops and workshops (should you want to try it) around town.
The Mellwood Arts Center is this fantastic old factory that has been turned into artist studios, performance space, galleries and shops.
Many of the great boutiques and restaurants and galleries are conveniently clumped together, for easy walking and exploring. (Louisville is actually a fantastic restaurant town) Ask anyone to direct you to the Highlands, Frankfort Avenue or Market Street downtown - it's the South, we love to be helpful.
And should you feel like spending a bit more time on I-75, as a former Michigander, I highly recommend the Ann Arbor Art Fair, Royal Oak and Ferndale almost anytime (Detroit suburbs - google Handmade Detroit for local events). And if you can make it that far, northern Michigan has some amazing little lakeshore towns to shop and explore in the summer.

Post Subject: Brag: My new job!
Today was my first day of work at "Captain Java", a coffee house combined with a "paint your own pottery" and mosaics studio. The bisque pieces and mosaic forms and tiles (etc), are high quality and so awesome!
The owner is very cool and gosh, I just feel so lucky to be working there! As some of you know, I own a DJ business. I do weddings, schools and other parties, but that is mostly weekend work and i've just been dying here in my studio from no people contact. I've gotten into a funk without face-to-face human contact and though I have tons of time down here to create, my funk causes creative blocks and I do nothing all day! I only work 4 hour shifts in the mornings at Captain Java, but that is just perfect.
I've always dreamed of having my own coffee shop with an artist studio, too. This just rocks. I've had a permanent smile on my face all day!
If you live in Indianapolis, please come up to Fishers on 116th street and say hi! I'll make you a yummy coffee or smoothie and you can paint some pottery or make a mosaic mirror!!!
*Jumps up and down for herself*
I also booked a wedding today and got into an art fair at a fall festival! Less than 3 weeks to prepare for the art fair, too! Wahoo! I am gonna be having fun this fall! LOL

Post Subject: cellophane greeting card bags?
Hello! I was wondering if any of you have a good resource for the purchase of plastic bags for greeting cards. Just the simple cellophane ones that hug the card and protect it. I am selling some handmade cards with my illustration work at an upcoming art fair and would like to have good presentation.

Post Subject: Strange Folk Arts and Crafts Festival 9/23/06
Hi everyone! I'm making the rounds telling everyone about the craft show I'm spearheading.. I've lurked on here a bit, but tend to hang out more on craftster, anyhoo, here goes the shpeel...
When: Saturday, September 23rd, 2006 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Where: O'Fallon Community Park; O'Fallon, IL (just 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis)
We are inviting indie artists and craftsters to set up shop in our beautiful expansive green-space, but that's not all. We have assembled a "shock and awe" arsenal of interactive activities and events that are sure to captivate patrons throughout the day. You can open a can of whoop craft whilst competeing in the Mad Crafts at Thunderdome tournament, or send your handmade garments strutting down the runway at our Fierce Suburban Fashion Show!
Booth Options:
Option #1: Bring Your Own Tent - $35 Entry Fee
This is the obvious choice if you own, or can borrow an "art fair" type pole tent any size up to 12ftx12ft. These tents are also available from many rental companies. You may bring any displays you wish for your space, and tables of various sizes are available for rent at $5 a piece.
Option #2: Rent a Sheltered Table - $35 Entry Fee
If you are selling a small amount of items(or just small items), renting a table is a great option. The tables are approximately 2.5ftx6ft, and you will have at least a 4ft space behind it for your chair and personal belongings. Participants will be set up next to each other under tents that the festival provides. You may decorate your table and display your items on top of them any way you like, but floor displays will not be permitted. These spaces will be filled on a "first come first serve" basis, so apply early!
Online applications are being accepted through July 31st, 2006 at www.StrangeFolkFestival.com.
These applications will be juried every wednesday. We will be looking for a variety of handmade items, artwork, even art and craft supplies or baked goods might be game. We will not allow mass produced items or antiques to be sold at the festival. Unless of course, you are decoupaging magazines or gluing AOL CD's to the antiques..that could be cool. The bottom line is, we'd like as many indie vendors as possible!
Our website has alll the details, maps, applications, FAQ's, printable flyers, and even a message board!
